The Weather Outside is Frightful

I guess Covid wasn't keeping things interesting enough. So this week we had below freezing temperatures for a week (the lowest I saw was -2) and a power grid that couldn't keep up with our needs so we had rolling blackouts for 3 days. You ended up getting the week off from school, but at this point (Friday), I think we all would have preferred a more normal week.

In all honesty, we've been pretty lucky. Our power was never out for more than about an hour. And while it got cold in here, we have food, shelter and plenty of warm clothes. You did have to sleep in our bed this week, which didn't thrill you. And at this point, there's not REALLY room for all three of us in there. But body heat was better than freezing and so we did what we had to do! That put us in better shape than so many in Texas. You've had your eyes opened to the evil of politics and this is a doozie. The Republicans are trying to blame Green energy, but in reality, they were being cheap and didn't winterize our equipment (green or not) and it all failed at once.

On the bright side, you did get to play in the snow with your neighborhood friends. We played games and did puzzles, sometimes in the dark. We also learned how to make dinner a bit more quickly (necessary when you aren't sure when the power will go out and with it, your ability to heat things up!).

There's not much else to report at the moment. The weather is delaying my second Covid shot, but I did at least hear there are studies for kids your age. I'm hoping you can get one before too long so we can go somewhere.

I love you kiddo, if I have to be trapped in a house with two people, I'm glad it's you and Da. ;)

Love, Ma
